few glimpes from andrea‘s studio today at the eastside culture crawl.
love her business cards.
also love the cookies.
but i made them, so i shouldn’t be eating all of them.

tomorrow starts the eastside culture crawl.
of course i will be spending a lot of my time this weekend at andrea‘s studio.
but…
there is one place i really want to check out.
ugm (union gospel mission) has a photo program called ‘photo 101′
it’s a 6 week photo workshop led by leah gregg + kevin clark in the downtown eastside.
the participants: men recovering from addiction.
the equipment they use: 120 film with holgas.
they will be showing a selection of the photographs during the culture crawl.
i am excited to see the work and learn more about photo 101.
you should go too!
more info about photo 101 on leah’s blog.
here is one of the photos. isn’t it beautiful?
yesterday i took a day off.
slept in.
ran some errands with my sister.
granville island has such pretty metal colored walls.
so we had to take some photos.
on our way home we stopped at bump n grind.
americanos + chocolate peanut butter cups.
divine doesn’t even begin to describe it.
(but i do try to over here.)
our brother made soup + biscuits for dinner.
and invited us over.
delicious.
nice to get pampered once in a while with a free meal.

another studio to visit during the eastside culture crawl.
(november 18, 19, 20)
andrea armstrong.
(yes. she is my sister.)
she paints paintings.
of pleasantly awkward portraits.
and other things.
i don’t think i am biased when i say she is a fantastic illustrator.
but you will have to come find out for yourself!
here’s a glimpse:
(have another peak over at her blog here & here)

robbie vergara screen prints.
on t-shirts.
aprons.
napkins.
baby onesies (so so cute. we didn’t get any photos, unfortunately. you’ll just have to trust me)
etc.
each print is hand-pulled.
that means every t-shirt or napkin you see is unique.
kinda pretty cool.
we had some fun taking some photos of his latest designs.
he sells them here.
at various markets in the city.
and in a couple weeks…
at the east side culture crawl.
november 18. 19. 20.
check out the crawl.
visit robbie.
(buy a t-shirt.)

here are some ‘behind the scenes’ shots.
wrinkles suck.
truly.
you don’t notice wrinkles until you are photographing something up close in great detail.
or unless you take greater care in your clothing’s appearance than i apparently seem to.

remember this family?
i had the pleasure of photographing their newest addition last week.
what a gorgeous little girl.
big brother and sister got in on the action too.
it was crazy fun.
they are crazy fun.
and crazy cute.

i strive to post only photos that i deem worthy enough for the whole world to see.
…
today, however, is an exception.
today, for some reason, i am sharing my halloween costume with you.
i call it ’80′s aerobic dancer back from the dead’
hideous, right?

took family photos for this lovely family in october of last year.
now i’m off to take photos of their newest addition.
she’s a cutie.
just like her older brother + sis.
