i love birthday parties.
my birthday is in the winter, so i never get to have a fun (& warm) outdoor party for my birthday.
this summer i got to attend (& photograph) a cute outdoor party.
little averi’s 4th birthday party took place at maplewood farm in north vancouver,
and was an animal-themed, packed-full-of-fun party.
her mom put so much attention into the beautiful details,
and even hand-made all the animal masks for the kids!
to start off the party, each attendee got an ice-cube tray of compartmentalized healthy snacks,
followed by pizza, and fresh lemonade.
the little ones then got to go feed the bunnies & pet the baby goats, as well as go on pony rides.
and to top the day off – cake, of course!
the gorgeous (and super delicious) cake was made by tracy thorn of cake conspiracy.
what a beautiful thing,
to watch a family grow.
i’ve had the privilege of photographing this family since they were just expecting their first,
and now they have two gorgeous (and rambunctious) kids that make the sessions more interesting as time goes on.
not to mention, i love the hugs i get from little arms at the end, making me the happiest person alive.

we had a fun day playing at the park, running through the woods, throwing rocks in the river, and fishing.
(i fully recommend family activities like this during a photo session!)
did you know i love to photograph birthday parties?
especially really cute & fun ones,
like this 4 year old birthday party at maplewood farm last weekend.
it involved balloons, cake, homemade masks, pony rides, and cute little goats to pet – how much cuter can a birthday party get?
more to come from this party, i assure!
(also: the cute & delicious cake was from cake conspiracy)
i’ve known aaron & caitlin for quite some time.
we knew each other back when we all lived in manitoba,
but really got to know them well these last few years in vancouver.
aaron is a cinematic animator and narrative designer,
and caitlin is a talented communication designer with a background in photography,
(she recently graduated from emily carr, with awards,
the same year she gave birth to baby maeve)
- she is a powerhouse.
together, they made a cute baby.
our session was a lot of fun.
we took a lot of natural photos in their home,
(taking breaks for feeding & diaper-changing)
and had tea & snacks before we headed out to english bay to take a few family portraits.
here is what our day looked like:
baby maeve is one cute little girl.
even though she cried and spit up for a substantial portion of our session (she is a baby after all),
she managed to make the cutest photos,
even cracking a semi-smile for me once or twice.
i can’t wait to finish editing them & share more of her little face & adorable blue eyes!
as much as i LOVE food,
i also love photographing couples, families, and adorable little kids!
i’ll be raising my portrait fees in 2014, so i thought i’d end this year with a portrait promotion!
if you make your deposit before the end of 2013 for a natural light portrait session for any time (that works for both you and me) in 2014,
you’ll still be eligible for the 2013 portrait fee of $400, plus an additional $50 off!
i’ll even throw in a free 5×7 canvas print (from your future session) to the first 5 people to book!
some questions you may have:
who would a portrait session be for?
this is good for individual portrait sessions up to families of 6!
would this apply to wedding portrait sessions?
this does not apply to wedding portrait sessions, sorry.
do we have to settle on a session date immediately?
nope! we can tentatively pick a month of the year that works, but there’s no pressure and we’ll figure out a date that works best for everyone.
what do i get with a portrait session?
you get a minimum of 30 high-res custom edited digital jpegs from our session, which is usually between 1 and 3 hours
do you take credit card payments?
yes. also cheque or e-transfer.
what if i live outside of vancouver?
i’ll travel for free to the following cities: (north vancouver, west vancouver, burnaby, richmond, new westminster, port coquitlam). anywhere further than that and we can work out an additional travel fee.
