spring blossoms in my neighbourhood

04.11.13

spring.
gorgeous time of year in vancouver.
my friend sharon,
who is traveling at the moment
(yes, i’m jealous)
asked me to take photos of the blossoms for her.

et voila:

… without a good breakfast

03.19.13

i quite agree, robert.
“one should not attend even the end of the world without a good breakfast”

this breakfast is from one we made for some recent visiting guests.
eggs.
french toast (with cranberry bread from a bread affair).
- with maple syrup, blueberries, yogurt.
breakfast sausages (best. ever. from woodland smokehouse.)
coffee. (jjbean eastside. of course.)

i have more than just breakfast photos to share.
but those are for another day.
we had a lovely time showing lydia + brandon around.
lydia is a lovely, talented photographer.
and she took quite a few fantastic film photos while she was here.
check them out here and here.

granola in the morning.

02.24.13

i’m really picky with granola.
i dislike most of the ones in stores.
my mom used to make the best granola.
the best.
(probably in part because of all the sugar in it.)
found a recipe that was a little less sweet than my mom’s
(i still love you mom!)
but because i forgot how easy granola is,
it took me about 1/2 a year to get around to making it.
(been on my ‘to do’ list for a … long while)
serious.
finally did it last week.
used a recipe from one of my favorite food photographers:
sylvie, from gourmande in the kitchen.
check out her recipe.
*i omited the dried fruit and use a mix of agave syrup and maple to sub for the honey

sneak peek: robbie vergara screen printing

02.15.13

photo session with robbie vergara screen printing this last week.
t-shirts, aprons, onesies…
& my favorite of the day: napkins.
… because they involve food, of course!
here’s a sneak:

chocolates are a girl’s best friend

02.05.13

happy with how these photos turned out.
taken for a blog post about valentine’s day.
also, an excuse to buy more of these chocolates.
seriously.
best.
chocolates.
ever?
yeah, ever.

chocolate covered caramel with sea salt.
from beta 5.

‘enjoy’

winter. wonder. land.

01.16.13

on sunday night,
i was excited for the engagement photo session monday.
a sunny day,
mr  weather network told me.
woke up monday morning:
snow.

glorious snow.

this is east van (2): book launch + gallery show july 7

06.30.12

this is east van is a community photography project.
headed up by two talented-caring-hardworking-awesome people: erin sinclair & rob forbes.
i was excited to be a part of book 1.
even more excited to be a part of book 2.
and guess what?

next weekend (saturday july 7, in fact), tiev-2 is having a book launch + gallery show:

a fun evening to:

  • peruse (+purchase) the new book.
  • look at the gallery of selected tiev-2 images.
  • purchase any one of the gallery prints (only $160. cash only. $150 of the proceeds go to the photographer)
  • mingle.
  • meet new people.
  • drink beer + wine (while doing all of the above).

will you be there?

you should.

i’ll be there, too.

oh, and check out this mini-doc of the ‘making of’ tiev-2. i have a brief cameo in it. if you can tell me what frame i show up in, i’ll give you a high five next time i see you. that’s right. for free.

ryan + melissa: 5 year sneak peek

05.22.12

fiance + i spent our weekend in victoria.
(fitting. it was the victoria day long weekend)
took 5 year anniversary photos for my dear friends, ryan + melissa.
(as well as hang out with them, eating delicious food all weekend long)
here are a few ‘sneak peek’ photos of them:

five years earlier…

05.12.12

five years ago today i photographed my first wedding.
the couple – amazing friends of mine – were the first to trust me with the task of documenting their wedding day.
a great learning experience.
an incredible honor.
i’m so thrilled that i get to take their photos again next weekend in victoria.
happy anniversary melissa & ryan!

cheers to the next 5 years of marriage.
love you both.

take me back to the top!
